Cycling 101 – Basic formwork and Pedal Stroke concepts – October 16
Cycling can be as basic as simply pushing your pedals down to move your bike forward, but what if you could use your body and core to efficiently propel your bike forward? What if you could efficiently pedal with the hips and legs so that every pedal stroke became purposeful? What if the pedal stroke was broken down so that every portion of the stroke made the bike move quicker, enabling the cyclist to become more efficient and more powerful?

Cycling 102 – Understanding your Gears – February 16
DATE: Saturday 2/16/19
Our bike’s gears are one of the most important components on our bicycles in terms of helping us ride efficiently and strategically. Using them should feel as natural as breathing, with shifting becoming second nature in response to the slightest changes in grade and wind.
However, as intimidating as this may sound, it need not be! Our gears make use of simple math equations, and using them makes use of our science and artistic minds….but understanding what goes into this makes it so that we do this automatically while riding. This is HUGE! It CAN be the difference between being on the podium, or not! (And it can be the difference between a well-played hilly or windy bike ride, or one that leaves your legs dead for the run.)
This NEW clinic will have participants looking closely at THEIR bike(s)’ gears, going through some math equations (please do NOT let this scare you off, however! We will help you with this!) to know what their different gears allow them to do, and then putting bikes on our CompuTrainer machines to test out HOW to shift on hilly terrain, smartly.
There may be no better or more practical “instruction-to-actual-performance” lessons out there to learn when it comes to cycling. This class is designed for ALL cyclists, regardless of your current knowledge or understanding of your bike, and regardless of what your own personal ability level or experience level is!
COST: $40
DATE: Saturday 2/16/19
TIME: 7:00am-8:30am

Why strength training is important for all athletes
As athletes we are always seeking ways to enhance and improve our performance. While we often make time for more swimming, biking and running, strength training often takes a back seat. But a properly focused triathlon-specific strength program can be the most efficient way to boost performance in all three disciples while helping you stay injury free. The off season is a particularly opportune time to introduce strength training to your triathlon preparation regime. Although most triathletes know how to exercise, many are confused about what exercises and types of structured workouts will specifically improve their running, biking, and swimming performance.
Experience Triathlon in now conducting a strength training class to introduce triathletes of all skill levels to properly formulated strength training program tailored specifically for triathlon. The class is based on scientific research, experience of personal training professionals, and input from successful triathlon coaches and athletes around the country. The class includes a different workout each week that is targeted at muscle groups that benefit one, two, or all three triathlon disciplines. Metabolic exercises are interwoven with strength focused exercises to achieve a complete physical and aerobic workout. Variants of each exercise are introduced to accommodate all skill levels from beginner to elite athletes.
In addition to improved performance and reduced risk of injury, a good strength training program can deliver the following benefits:
- Enhanced strength and confidence
- Muscular endurance and power.
- Improved form and efficiency in all three disciplines
- Decreased fatigue
- Improved flexibility
- Healthy, efficient body composition
- Increased resting metabolism
- Increased bone mineral density
- Improved glucose metabolism
- Maintain triathlon fitness while traveling
