From Injury to Olympic Triathlon Finish Line

From Injury to Olympic Triathlon Finish Line

by Joanie K.

After 2 years of physical therapy following ACL/meniscus/LCL surgery in 2023—and a lifetime of battling injuries from overtraining—I finally found a better way forward.

Thanks to Christa’s coaching and encouragement and Joe with Experience Triathlon Coaching Services, I’ve spent the last 3 months training smart, staying injury-free, and gaining confidence I didn’t know I still had. Surrounded by a community through open water swims, bike rides, computrainer classes, and camp in Madison, I felt supported during my journey.
Under Coach Christa’s guidance, I found a balance I had never achieved before. Her thoughtful, personalized coaching kept me accountable without pushing me over the edge. For the first time in years, I felt like I was training smart—not just hard. And perhaps most importantly, I stayed injury-free.

This journey has reminded me that comeback stories are never linear. They’re messy, emotional, and often unpredictable. But with the right coach, the right mindset, and the right community, anything is possible.

Last weekend, I crossed the finish line at the Pleasant Prairie Olympic Triathlon—strong, healthy, and grateful.

Huge thanks to Christa, Joe and the ET family. Hoping this is just the beginning! ❤️
