Coach Christa has been an endurance athlete for the past 16 years. After running her first half marathon and marathon in 2005, she very quickly found a love for long-distance running, and since then has completed 5 marathons, over 10 half marathons, and many other road and trail races of various distances. In 2019, life events inspired Christa to make her dream of becoming a triathlete into a reality, and she entered the sport of triathlon as a solo athlete, with no prior swim experience and without a bike of her own. Just a few months later, she participated in her first triathlons – the ET Naperville Sprint Tri and the ET Pleasant Prairie Tri. Her love for the sport was instantaneous, and it was at these races that she first met and was impacted by her now coach and mentor, Joe LoPresto, and drawn to the exuberance of the Experience Triathlon Team. Immediately following those races, she began her journey with Team ET, and has been a coached athlete working towards her own long-distance goals in the sport since 2020. Christa completed two 70.3 Ironman races in 2021. She is racing for her first 140.6 Ironman at Wisconsin in September 2022.
“Finished The Naperville Sprint Triathlon today. I beat last year’s time by 11 minutes!! Thank you so much coach Christa for helping me. I definitely couldn’t have done it without you. I truly appreciate all your support and the support of Team Experience Triathlon. I’m looking forward to many more races with all of you.” – Rebecca A.
Christa is beyond excited to have the opportunity to help support athletes in their own journeys – especially those just starting out in the sport – because it gives her the opportunity to try and give back to this sport and community that has truly changed her life for the better. She views her own coach, Joe LoPresto, and the entire ET family as an abundant blessing who have positively impacted her life in a profound way.
Christa lives in Warrenville with her two young sons. She is a Professor of Flute at Benedictine University, runs her own private flute studio, and performs, teaches, and adjudicates throughout the Chicagoland and Central Illinois areas. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Flute Performance with a related area of study in Wind Band Conducting from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln; a Master of Music degree in Flute Performance from Illinois State University, and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Illinois State University.
