“Before I was even in the market for a coach, I was impressed with Kurt. I was brand new to triathlons and had questions on setting up my new bike. He didn’t stop with simply answering my questions; instead he would reach out and encourage me to show up to ET group rides. Once there, he would make sure I was comfortable – he was always reading my body signals and stepping in to assist when needed. So when I signed up for my first Ironman – and decided that warranted hiring a coach – there was no doubt who I was going to hire.
8 months of swim, bike, run and strength workouts – and not once was I bored or dreading a workout. Encouragement and humor were always mixed in to the assigned training and I often found myself smiling out loud as I read the weeks workouts. The assigned training was always varied and stayed fresh because of it. I found myself looking forward to what the week ahead would entail. Kurt was flexible when life got in the way (as it often can) and careful not have me push through aches and pains. When I had areas I struggled with, he would push those to the top of the training list. Scared of bike handling? Parking lot and courses full of cones – here we come! Panicked in open water? See you at Centennial Beach for the ET Open Water swims – every week!
I walked to the starting line of the Ironman with complete confidence in my abilities to complete 140.6 miles on one of the toughest IM courses. And then I proceeded to exceed my expectations and had the most amazing day. I owe that all to Kurt – an amazing coach and a true friend.” – Kendra F.
