  • CompuTrainer Winter I Session Nov 7 thru Jan 15

Sweat.  Music.  More Sweat.  Laughter.  Competitive Drive.  Encouragement.  Coaching.  Coffee.  Stretching.  Chilling.  Improvement.

Experience Triathlon is proud to announce their 2016 CompuTrainer Winter I Session, lasting 10 weeks, with rides ranging in length from 60-120 minutes, packed full with content to train every physiological system a rider needs to take their ride to the next level.  Each class is personally coached, and with a small class size, there is plenty of interaction time amongst riders and coach.  For those looking to ride “solo”, just bring along a pair of earbuds, and allow yourself to have the ride unfold before you while you go into your own mind.

Instant feedback on a rider’s effort allows one to adjust their pedal stroke mechanics and muscular engagement to make the most of their training.  Seeing data of other riders gives the extra added incentive to never give up, and keep pushing harder.   No matter a cyclist’s riding ability, this program WILL help them improve their cycling fitness while becoming more mindful of their pedaling efficiency.

Short Ride Courses:  *NEW* this year—ET will offer two separate short course rides, changing mid-week, for those looking to ride twice and wanting different content.  Monday through Wednesday will offer one ride, while Thursday through Sunday will offer a second ride.  These rides will last in duration from 60-80 minutes in length, and will focus on training an athlete’s engine, from anaerobic intervals to VO2max work, to Functional Threshold stabilization.  Plenty of recovery time will be incorporated to these workouts to allow for the best workout possible.

Long Ride Courses:  *NEW* this year—we will be incorporating the use of Quadrant Pedaling, along with mindful training of one’s energy expenditure while riding for upwards of 2+-hours per class.  There will be a mix of flat courses with specific energy system focuses, along with plenty of hilly course rides, including the local favorite of Ironman Wisconsin, for riders to practice riding with instant performance feedback and the company of others to motivate and push oneself.  These will also be coached courses, allowing for interaction as riders need it.

Once a ride is done, enjoy some stretch and relax time in ET’s new Stretch and Rest lounge, complete with foam rollers, yoga mats, and coffee!

  • Cycling 101 – Basic formwork and Pedal Stroke concepts – February 27

Cycling can be as basic as simply pushing your pedals down to move your bike forward, but what if you could use your body and core to efficiently propel your bike forward? What if you could efficiently pedal with the hips and legs so that every pedal stroke became purposeful? What if the pedal stroke was broken down so that every portion of the stroke made the bike move quicker, enabling the cyclist to become more efficient and more powerful?

  • ET Strength 301: Mindful Strength Training for Triathletes

    January 10 – February 28

Triathletes tax their bodies in a number of ways, constantly looking for that extra edge to help them take their performance to the next level.  One of the overlooked and underutilized way to improving one’s performance, is with the proper execution of muscle actions and movements, so that NO MOVEMENT is made without purpose.

Experience Triathlon is excited and proud to announce the newest addition of training education to their highly rated programs, with the introduction of ET Strength 301:  Mindful Strength Training for Triathletes.  This is an 8-week course designed to teach athletes HOW to strength train with the goal of proper muscle mechanics to have a stronger swim stroke, a more powerful pedal stroke, and a more efficient run gait.  Specific strength exercises, as they directly pertain to swimming, biking and running, are explored in detail weekly, while teaching athletes HOW to control these muscle movements so THEY are in charge of their actions.

This course is co-coached by Kurt Woodward and Sarah Farsalas, who together are able to blend unique skill sets ranging from Kurt’s Personal Training credentials to Sarah’s Massage Therapy background.  Detailed muscle movements are so often overlooked, and it takes repetition and one-on-one coaching to help athletes FEEL what they are supposed to feel to execute the perfect swim stroke, pedal stroke and run stride.  Each weekly session will explore one discipline of triathlon, and one specific body region to help athletes learn in detail how to be productive with every movement.  Strength training exercises will then be taught, guided and executed by all class participants, with an overall body approach over the course of the 8 weeks.

There will be weekly “homework” for class participants, so that they can continue practicing exercises on their own.  Additionally there will be time spent in each class teaching athletes how to “undo” what they just did to their muscles via foam rolling and stretching.

Class size will be limited to 6 athletes so that each athlete gets the personal attention they need to truly understand and internalize what is being taught.  Two separate class times are offered, and classes will take place at the ET Training Center at Central Park Lisle.
