Dr. Broeder has been a preventive health, fitness, and obesity researcher for more than 30 years. He is a fellow in the American College of Sports Medicine and the Obesity Society for his research and professional contributions. He is a past board member of the Southeast Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine and served as that group’s strategic planning chair. He is past-president of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) for the midwest chapter. Professionally, he was one of the authors for 8th edition of the ACSM Guidelines For Exercise Testing used in exercise and cardiac stress testing centers throughout the United States & World. Based on Dr. Broeder’s research on androgenic hormones published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, he was selected from 450 research nominees world-wide as one of the top 25 nutrient supplement researchers in 2000. Recently, Dr. Broeder was a co-author of Routledge’s Handbook of Ergonomics in Sport and Exercise used by exercise and sports performance specialists in higher education with exercise science programs in the US and Europe. Beside heading up his research company, Dr. Broeder currently holds the first Northern Illinois University Research Scholar position awarded  to him for his work in mentoring junior faculty and graduate students from the university’s exercise science program.

Dr. Broeder’s company, Exercising Nutritionally, LLC, focuses on clinical research and education for promoting healthy living and aging.  Projects study the role that nutrition and physical activity play in helping prevent and treat lifestyle related diseases on the molecular, biochemical, and physiological levels. Populations include children, adults, and senior populations. Dr. Broeder, through his company, provide various groups like Experience Triathlon from the Chicago area research quality testing in body composition, sports performance testing, sports nutrition counseling, preventive health assessments, and educational programs in nutrition, exercise, and preventive health interventions.

On a personal level, Dr. Broeder has been passionate about cycling for 45 plus years and involved in ultra-endurance cycling most of his adult life. Dr. Broeder was the first person in 2009 to cycle around the US perimeter in less than 90 days to celebrate his wife’s  20 anniversary of surviving clear-cell ovarian cancer and start the Kay and Craig Broeder Female Preventive Health Foundation managed by his national organization ACSM. Based on his exercise science research and sports performance experience, Dr. Broeder has tested and worked with professional and Olympic athletes in track and field, road cycling, triathlons, cycle-cross racing, ultra-endurance cycling, the NBA, and NFL. He is currently one of the head sports performance scientists for RedBull sponsored pro endurance athletes. As a physiologists for RedBull, he is part of an international sports performance research team designing projects using some of the most advanced technologies on the planet for assessing and understanding how an athlete can maintain and improve performance on the elite athlete level! These projects have been feature on special segment shows such as 60-minutes sports, ESPN, Outside Magazine, the RedBull Channel, and Telemundo.
