Sarah Farsalas
Cycling Coach
“This last session was my first experience with computraining. Coach Sarah was so welcoming and nonjudgmental. She showed me how to set up my bike and what to expect. She also told us each session what our goals were and what to concentrate on to get the most benefit from the ride. Coach Sarah gave us a great workout with a warm smile and a great attitude!” – Sue N. More Coach Sarah testimonials
Coach Sarah’s passion for cycling came about during her college years when she was introduced to cycling by her father. She spent summers riding through the Appalachian foothills, building a solid base of hill riding and endurance training, and fueling a long-term dream of somehow incorporating cycling into her daily life in a way that could give back to others and enhance their riding experience.
Sarah stumbled into the world of triathlon after experiencing a herniated back and finding out that cross-training was the most effective way of protecting herself while still pursuing a love of staying active. In the last few years, Sarah has qualified twice for USAT’s Age-Group Nationals. Most recently, she placed 2nd Overall in the Pleasant Prairie Duathlon (’11), and had the humbling experience of riding with some of the finest local time trialists during the 2011 4-part indoor Mid America Time Trial Series, where she had the Fastest Overall Female time in stage 1 (flat course), the 2nd Fastest Overall Female time in stage 3 (hill course), and the honor of being 1st in her category for the entire series. Other memorable races include a 3rd place Age Group honor during the ’09 Danskin Triathlon, and a 2nd place Overall honor along with Fastest Bike Split for the ’09 Evergreen Sprint Triathlon. She placed 1st Overall in Experience Triathlon’s 2010 Spring Indoor Triathlon.
Each racing experience has brought Sarah new insight and appreciation for the sport and also an ever-growing admiration for all of her fellow athletes and the diversity in life that so many people bring to multi-sport. Through her own injuries, she has learned the importance of proper form in every discipline of the sport, and believes that recovery plays just as important a role to an athlete’s performance as training. Because of this, she has decided to go back to school to pursue a diploma in Clinical Massage Therapy from The Soma Institute.
As a USA cycling coach, Sarah helps athletes improve riding skills, body strength, training performance and race day speed using time-tested scientific training methods. She has a special interest in helping new riders enter the wonderful world of cycling. Sarah leads many of the cycling specific ET group workouts such as ET Bike Club weekly rides and the ET CompuTrainer winter cycling classes.
