Run Training Tip – Run Safe in the Dark

Run Training Tip - Run safe at nightNow that early spring is here, most of us will at some point be outside in early or late day low light conditions. It’s time to think safety! During these runs we should be using some type of both passive and active lighting. Passive lighting is the reflective material on most running outwear, active lighting is some type of inexpensive strobe light that can be purchased at running stores and attached to your clothing. By using both of these lighting methods it will help alert drivers to your presence and keep you safe running outdoors. Also, when running on the street run towards the traffic pattern, not in the same direction as traffic. This will put you in a better position to see on-coming traffic and avoid a possible accident.
